Formed in 2001 by Ryan Holsopple, 31 Down is a radio-transmission based theater company from Brooklyn, New York. The vision of the company lies in the hybridization of modern technologies with old technologies, systems, established genres, and forms. The theater company uses radio transmissions, wireless devices, and home security technology to expand and contract traditional theatrical spaces.

Recent projects include: "Canal Street Station" presented by 31 Down and free103point9 Transmission Arts as part of free103's 10 year anniversary celebration; "mystery reality game workshop" presented as part of the Part of the Beijing Summer Digital Entertainment Jam, Beijing is Your Playground. at the "Universal Robots" premiered at the Ontological Incubator 2007; "METRONOMA" premiered at the Ontological Incubator 2006; “That's not how Mahler died...” premiered at the Ontological Summer Series, 2005; performed at The BRICK, November, 2005; performed as an installation at the Spark Festival of Music, Minneapolis, MN, February, 2006; “wwwSomnambulator” as part of “Surge,” an online transmission exhibition presented by Rhizome and free103point9; “Rita, Katrina and Stan” as part of free103point9's “On The Air” at White Box Gallery/PERFORMA05; “Wanderlost” as part of “Airborne,” presented by free103point9 and The New Museum for Contemporary Art, Spring, 2005; and “Nightmare: New York City’s Scariest Haunted House,” sound and mechanical effects designs, October, 2005.

The company includes the work and assistance of: Ryan Holsopple, Mirit Tal, Shannon Sindelar, Jon Luton, Benjamin Brown.
