Raphael Lyon is the curator and producer of the sound-art label FreeMatterfortheBlind.com or "Fm4tb." Fm4tb is an on demand CD-based archive of sound art and experiments in audio. This archive contains but is not limited to, cutting edge field recordings and investigations into the possibilities cinematic audio. It includes Mat Brinkman's Found in the Street Tape collages, soundtracks from the TruthEaterTheater's guerilla musicals, as well as a ten part series of audio zines collecting strange sounds for strange people. Fm4tb is also interested in the identification and support of "Dark Cinema", recordings that attempt to elevate the semiotic vocabulary of audio theater to that of traditional cinema. The most recent of these PSICKLOPS (Produced in collaboration with artist Jim Drain and the work of musicians Lucky Dragons, Jessica Rylan among others) is a one-hour audio event that simultaneously hypnotizes and teleports the audience through a series of interrogations, edited found sounds, and scripted events. Based loosely on Kafka's novel "The Trial," PSICKLOPS was "screened" in over 50 locations around the world as it was broadcast on over a dozen stations including free103point9.
